Long day...

You know it's going to be a long day when you start off with a headache. Nevertheless, we persevere... A had a doctor's appointment today, and low and behold she has yet another ear infection (if you assume the last one went away). Looks like she and E will be getting tubes in their ears together. I got to spend the afternoon purging someone else's files off the shared drive to make room, and archiving them on CD. On the brighter side, C got her new camera today and my research partner was true to her word and sent her edits today. If all goes well, tomorrow I'll merge everything and we'll be ready to publish. It'll be nice to be done with the writing part of the process -- I have two weeks of language immersion training coming up and I don't need the intellectual distraction... Pretty beat, so I'll close for now.

Why Am I Here?

Okay, so this is blogging. To all my friends, a big heyhowareya. :) V, I know I said I had some reservations about this, but sometimes you have to pinch your nose and take the plunge: So here I am, hurtling into the abyss.

I guess I'll take the opportunity to update y'all. C, E, A and I are all doing fine. A has made considerable progress from this time last year and we're all very thankful. J and K are back home again, and from all accounts happy to be there and doing better than ever. I'm close to publishing my first non-school assigned paper and I have to say I'm excited about it. Now if my collaborator can show the same diligence I've put into it, hopefully we can wrap this project up in the next couple of months.

I guess the reason I'm doing this is because if you're going to research something, you should probably practice it as well. I look forward to getting to just spew forth my thoughts on life and politics, and hopefully get some feedback from all of you. All I can say is if it sounds nuts, remember that I wouldn't be writing about it if I didn't think it was important, and that before posting anything I will have done some research and put some serious thought into it.
